Sharlota is a yoga instructor and movement educator. Beginning as a dedicated Ashtangi, she traveled to study with world-renowned senior Ashtanga teachers Nancy Gilgoff, David Swenson, and Manju Patthabi Jois. She completed two Ashtanga Primary Series teacher trainings, learning a great deal about herself and falling deeply in love with the practice. As a result, she weaves Ashtanga principles into her classes – breath cues being the most important element.

Sharlota’s curiosity about a more alignment- and anatomy-based asana led her to YogaWorks where she eagerly undertook her entire 500hr training. YogaWorks formed Sharlota as a teacher and opened the door for her to experience and integrate a more balanced style of instruction. Thanks to her amazing teachers, Sharlota brings and blends Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyengar, dance and various movement techniques into her work.

Sharing my passion for yoga and movement through teaching is a huge gift. Every day I feel grateful for the opportunity to lead my students through an asana- and movement-based meditation, guide them through their physical and emotional journey on the mat, and inspire them to bring all the lessons they learned in the studio to the outside world.

Ashtanga taught me to appreciate a strong, breath-focused, fast-paced, sweaty practice. At YogaWorks I learned to adopt a more explorative approach to asana as well as Restorative and Gentle Flow practices. Both these schools of yoga and movement have led me to become the teacher I am today.

I like to think of my class as an alignment-based playground were you rediscover yourself and the power of your breath over and over again.

One of my goals as a teacher is for my students to feel that they are cared for, and safe to explore and dig deeper within themselves, both on a physical and an emotional level.

Sharlota is a Lithuanian living in NYC. She’s multilingual, so come say hi to her any way you like - she savors the diversity of cultures the City brings together. In addition to being a yoga instructor, Sharlota also shoots lifestyle photography.

TESTIMONIALS:

I’m a 45-year-old woman who hasn’t been moving much for many years. I started practicing yoga with Sharlota 6 months ago. It completely changed my life. My arthritis is 75% better. My chronically swollen tonsils are not swollen anymore. I feel younger, more invigorated, and more agile than I’ve felt in years! I feel like a cloud has been lifted. My mind feels sharper and quicker than in my 20s.

Sharlota's style is awesome! She knows to push me just the right amount without me feeling completely tired out, and she somehow manages to always change things up a little, so besides being challenging it is a lot of fun, and something I look forward to!

SHARLOTA CHANGED MY LIFE!

Barbara K., Brooklyn, NY

After I tore my meniscus on a trip to Japan, my Doctor recommended that I take up some kind of consistent movement classes to lessen the discomfort and avoid possible complications. Sharlota was recommended to me by a close friend who assured me that, even as a reluctant beginner, she would put me at ease and challenge me at my own pace with no stress or judgment.

They were right! My time on the mat with her has exceeded my expectations: my knee has stopped aching entirely, my body as I approach 40 feels more relaxed and limber than it has in ten years, and my sessions have become the most relaxing part of my week.  I'm pleased to be able to recommend her to anyone, whatever their level of experience.
